My maiden name is Beard. Surnames I am researching are Beard, James, Thrasher, Snider, Roach, Bryan, Dyer, Williamson, Henderson and Ramsey.
My husband's surnames are Stewart, McBride, Warren, Hatcher, Hargrove, Shows, Willis and Strain.
Most were from South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana and Texas.
Although my full name is Patricia Lynn Beard Stewart, I have always used my middle name, Lynn, at least until 9-11-01 when, shortly after the attack on the World Trade Center, I was required to use my first name in so many instances. I don't like the fact that Find a Grave and Ancestry entries always use first names that no one will recognize, i.e. my paternal aunt Ova Ruth Beard Hanby, who was always "Ruth," and my maternal grandmother Mary Oma Snider Thrasher, who was always "Oma." I understand that this is useful for researchers but not to friends and family.
