Family goes back to when The Virginia Company dispatched 144 men and boys on three ships which left England in December of 1606 and arrived in Virginia in May 13, 1607. Edward Waters on the ship wreck "Sea Venture" in Bermuda, continued on to Jamestown, arriving in 1610. Family was involved in the 1704 Quit Rent Rolls of Virginia, the French & Indian War 1754-1763 (Col. Philemon Waters Jr. 1734-1796), and in the American Revolution and the War of 1812. After the Civil War, the Shaw's moved from GA, down to Newnansville, and then to Alachua, Florida. The family still lives and farms there in Alachua. My great grandfather, Jesse Mansfield Shaw, son of Joseph Shaw & Emily Walker, daughter of John & Keturah Walker, married Mary Frances Thomas, the daughter of Isham B. Thomas and Mary E. Ulmer. Their son, my grandparents, Benjamin Thomas Shaw married Maggie Conye Rimes, of Worthington Springs. And my mother Eva Shaw, married David Solomon Waters Jr. of the Waters-Barron family in Alachua, family of Florida Pioneer Descendant, Emanuel Waters, and his wife Nancy Elizabeth Gornto. I have been doing Genealogy research since 1974, and enjoy helping others in their research...
