It seems that I've always been interested in genealogy, which I inherited from my dad, Joe Lasater. He would answer all my questions the best he could as, who used to live there and how are they related to each other, about the Pea Ridge and Benton County area. His memory, up until the last 2 to 3 years of his 92 years he lived, was as sharp as it could be. For years we would drive his old truck, mostly on Sunday afternoons, and go to the local graveyards. Every decoration day my mother would join us to pay our respect. Both would reminisce about the folks they had known who were now buried there. Between the two sides of my family, it wasn't unusual to go to 10-12 cemeteries each year. Over 20 yrs ago, I persuaded both of my parents to go with me to mid Tennessee to do more researching for both sides of their families. One discovery was the old homeplace and the gravestones of my dad's maternal grandfather's grandparents'.

All were on private land, and only a handful of local folks remembered where it was. It was a wonderful memory.

I've enjoyed this website for several years, and since both my parents have passed on, I've found that doing this is good therapy.

Lasater, Murphy, Cable, Deason, Mount, Dean/Deans, Bonham, Baker, Ford, Arnold, Walker, Hammack, Patterson, Martin, just to name a few.

It's a great experience meeting new cousins - some, of which have become good friends. So many distant cousins have helped me add to my tree, so if I, in turn, can help anyone, please contact me and I'll certainly try.
