Photographer, researcher and my family's genealogist. Excluding my own relatives, I'm happy to reunite family with memorials I manage and open to transfers.

I use vital records for some accuracy and context to help families make connections. I prefer posting original obituaries (old = 50+ years or ones where family mentioned are no longer living) rather than transcribed versions. I find old obituaries essential in discovering information and family links, particularly in the 1800s and early 1900s when vital records were sparse or poorly kept - particularly for women. Local, older obituaries can add so much texture because of the way they were written - not just for the information they provide.

I enjoy walking cemeteries, and taking quality photographs is a priority since this may be the only way people can see where their loved ones are buried.

If I add a photo to a memorial that already has one it's probably because the existing one is old (technology changes as does the condition of a marker), looks distorted, hard to read, shot at weird angles or part of the marker is cut off, or shot too far away.
