I always loved listening to my grandparents tell stories about their families and how things were done in the "olden days." My aunt and I went to the Blue Earth County Courthouse when I was just 13 years old to search for information on family members. I have been interested in genealogy ever since!
In 1998, I began researching my husband's paternal ancestors. We met with extended family members in Wisconsin and found many 2nd and 3rd cousins. My mom and her siblings asked me to research their ancestors about the same time. After visiting many cemeteries, discussions with family members, and lots of research online I have a great deal of information on both families.
Now, when I see the DNA commercials, I think about the countries my great-grandparents were from...Germany, Luxembourg, Prussia (now Poland), Ireland, Wales, Holland, Austria (now the Czech Republic). I love the customs, foods, and understand why I feel so at home when I'm traveling in Europe!
