I grew up always hearing I was German/Dutch on my maternal grandpa's side, and French/Scotch/Irish on my maternal grandma's side. On my Father's side...Bohemian on both his mother and father's side. Have only recently started to search in earnest those who have gone before me. I have already found cousins, and relatives (that are alive) that I did not know existed!
Names I will be searching: Lukes/Lukish, Swestka/Svestka, Balek/Balik Snipps, Barr and Prew/Proulx. Stomping grounds for me is Mason City Iowa. My Bohemian side: Protivin, Spillville, Jackson Junction. Snipps side: Crystal Lake, Forest City Iowa and Barr side...Dougherty Iowa. Recently retired and loving it, as I can devote time to the quest!
