I have always been interested in my family history. As a young boy, I lived with my grandparents and great-grandparents. My great-grand mother as born in 1894 and lived to be 103. I was 39 when she passed. She and the rest of the family often spoke of the "old days'" and of family members from those earlier generations. I got to know a lot of those family members in person and through the stories told. I couldn't have better history teachers. They lived the history.

I really started "digging in" to my family history about eleven years ago when my own grandson had a 2nd grade school project dealing with family history and came to me for information. That was the start of this new phase of learning and researching my family history.

If possible, I think it is always best to have family members managing their family's memorials rather than have individuals who manage thousands of memorials in which they have no vested interest!! That being said, all the memorials I manage with the exception of only two, are family members of myself or my wife. They are either direct family members, (blood relatives), or spouses of those direct family members. My main objective is to make sure that the information is complete, accurate and up to date. My other objective is to try to attach as many of the members of the family together in an effort to make things easier for others to research.
