I am the Daughter of Charlie Hansler, Cecils first cousin, they became despatch riders in the Canadian army together under age, much to their mother's fury !
Cecil was killed by a landmine when they were both out on their motorcycles, he rode over one and was flung into the back of a truck sustaining fatal injuries, dying a couple of weeks later at the military hospital in Birmingham.
My father was also injured in the accident but was able to continue with duties some while later .
