Bio

Allow me to introduce myself. I am Dean McKnight and I am a member of The Fortney-Fortna Genealogy Family, Inc. (FFGF) which is a non-profit organization dedicated to researching and disseminating information on the history of the Fortineux family. Beginning with the efforts of individual genealogists in the early 20th century, by the 1980’s enough people had realized that the many Fortneys, Furtneys, Fordneys, and Fortnas (there are many different variations of the family name) were in fact distant cousins and formed the FFGF to pursue their common ancestry. In 1989, the FFGF published its research on the Fortineux family in its Big Blue Book more formally titled, “The Fortinuex-Fortinet Family (Fortney, Fortna, Fordney, Furtney) in America. Since then, the FFGF has held 10 international genealogical family reunions and in 2017 took the first serious steps to start writing its second book.

Our family website is https://fortineux.org/ as well as our Facebook page: fortineux family: fortney-fortna genealogy family inc. ( https://www.facebook.com/search/top/?q=fortineux%20family%3A%20fortney-fortna%20genealogy%20family%20inc.&epa=SEARCH_BOX )

Our 1989 Big Blue Book is out of print but is available for searching and reading when you sign up to access to our password-protected newsletter page. Copies of our Family newsletter, published since 1993 are also available. Our group is also involved in a family DNA project, coordinated by Director Phillip Goff.

If you are interested in our family genealogy, please take the time to visit the website and Facebook pages.
