My ancestors can be found in the virtual cemetery called "My Ancestors." With the exception of my direct ancestors, I will gladly transfer any memorial to a relative or to someone more closely related than me.

Please presume when I submit edits that I have done thorough research. I know how important research is and how to do it accurately since I have master's degrees in both history and archival studies and have completed a graduate certificate course in genealogy. I am human though and can make mistakes (and if you notice one, please let me know!), but I don't submit edits without thought. There's enough wrong information on this and other genealogical sites, and I have no desire to perpetuate it. If you'd like documentation or to know my reasoning, I'd prefer that you send me a message rather than decline the edit. If you're a relative and know better than I do, let me know so that I don't have the wrong information anywhere else, like my public Ancestry tree.

I'd also appreciate being asked before someone transfers a memorial to me. On several occasions I have submitted minor edits to a memorial I have very little connection with and the manager just transfers it to me without any kind of communication. I find that a little weird. I'll always take care of any memorials that come under my purview, but it's odd and maybe a bit rude to make the assumption without asking.

Most of the memorials I make are based on information from death certificates and obituaries. It's my policy to always submit a photo request when I create a memorial. I generally don't have plot information, which I know means that these requests are less likely to be filled. That's unfortunate, but just the way it is. I have an anxiety disorder, so calling cemeteries is not going to happen as I need to use that energy for other things in my life. Sending me messages telling me to call cemeteries is not going to help.

***Currently working on compiling the descendants of twin brothers Joshua Rountree (1783-1851) and George Rountree (1783-1856) of Emanuel County, Georgia, both of whom are my ancestors. Memorials can be found in the virtual cemetery called "Rountree Twins Descendants." Work in progress - there are a lot of people, so it is slow going. Working to get memorials linked to family members, requesting photos for unphotographed graves, and adding memorials when I can locate burial information.***
