Hello, I'm Sarah Y. Allen!

My family on my Dad's side has lived in Oakland County for many generations. Our family has a yearly tradition for visiting cemeteries on Memorial Day weekend to plant flowers for family members and share stories and memories about them.

We usually visit the Franklin Cemetery (Franklin), Pine Lake Cemetery (West Bloomfield), Roseland Park Cemetery (Berkley), Greenwood Cemetery (Birmingham), and Greenwood Cemetery (Fowlerville).

I wanted to learn more about some of my more distant relatives and starting researching my family tree on Ancestry.com and on FindAGrave.com.

My paternal family surnames include Allen, Johnston, Cox, Comstock, Wood, Patchett, Mullin, Schlaack. My grandmother, Barbara Jean (Johnston) Allen, grew up in Franklin, MI and my grandfather, Joseph Albert Allen, grew up in the West Bloomfield and Birmingham area. The Allen's immigrated to USA from Lincolnshire, England.

My mother immigrated from Tsuruoka, Japan and her family still lives there on the family farm.
