Loner who likes to walk cemeteries.

Started off here by just photographing requests.

Realized that wasn't enough, so started photographing headstones.

Then realized most of my captures weren't already memorialized.

So now I add memorials as well, as it turns out a lot of cemeteries are highly under-reported, at least around here.

I learned early on that stones are more reflective than you think, so if some are taken at weird angles, it's usually to keep me out of the photo.

Also, it's very important to remember to check the backs of the taller stones, because people like to hide there . . .

I'm fond of adding GPS as well, if that's all that's needed.

I'm not afraid to get dirty, and I will dig up hidden footstones and sunken headstones, and try to clean everything at least enough to make all as readable as possible, within limits of course. The neglect at some of these places just makes me sad.

I work a fairly small area of Central New Jersey, and I try to go where the memorials in general are neglected, so I ricochet a bit between places, especially in the Summer, when I tend to favor the more well-kept cemeteries, and even mausoleums. I plan to circle back to make all that I work on as complete as I can, though that could take a very long time.

It's about the process for me; the discovery. It's very gratifying to find a stone that someone, somewhere is looking for, whether they know it at the time or not. I love the 'reunification' part of it, and I'm glad to help.
