Retired researcher and publications officer at the Alabama Historical Commission has written several history books and publications.
Also worked for the Commission as executive director of the Fort Morgan National Historic Landmark park and museum on Mobile Bay (1980-1984) researching and writing about its role in U.S. and Civil War battles from 1812 throuh WWII.
Later director of the Marietta Johnson Museum in Fairhope, AL and also assitant director of the Baldwin County Department of Archives.
A descendant of Jacob Zeigler of Orangeburg, SC, who was the first Zeigler of her line born in America, in 1755. His father Bernard arrived in Charleston in 1752 from Germany with seven siblings and their parents David and Angelina. In 1817 Jacob and his wife Catherine Wannamaker Zeigler migrated with eight of their 11 children in a wagon train and settled Autauga County, AL with several other relatives and neighbors from the Orangeburg District.
Seven generations of Jacob's children are buried in the Zeigler Cemetery at Coosada, Elmore County, AL.
Also descended from Jacob Wannamaker who arrived in America in 1738 and was an original Orangeburg settler.
