I have been a member of the National Society of the Sons of the American Revolution (NSSAR) since 2014. I encouraged my sister to join the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR) in 2022. We both used Samuel Jerome as our Patriot Ancestor. (FYI, SAR & DAR are Lineage Societies that require applicants to provide documented relationship proof of each generation from the Patriot Ancestor down to the Applicant.) I have also been a member of the New England Historic Genealogical Society (NEHGS) for over 50 years.
In short, I have been interested in my family genealogy before computers, crawling around on my hands and knees trying to read tombstone inscriptions, etc. Thanks to the work of NEHGS, I was able to document my maternal side of our family back to Edward I of England. On my paternal side, I had a Grand Aunt who documented our family lineage back to Jennie Jerome, the American born mother of Sir Winston Churchill. In so doing, she found that Jennie Jerome was a paternal 3rd great-granddaughter of Samuel Jerome, thereby inadvertently providing our family with an American Revolutionary War Patriot Ancestor.
I want to thank the many Find A Grave Members who have transferred management of Memorials of my family to me. I appreciate the work that you have done and respect you for it.
I will try to work with the Find A Grave Members who are also related to some of my family members and offer edit suggestions for their consideration.
