I have been tracing members of four branches of our family tree: the Dannewald/Heier and Strader/James ancestors of my wife Marlene Dannewald Johnson; and the Johnson//Carlson and Rognan/Johanson trees of my parents. Marlene's branches are complicated by the very large families, with many children having similar forenames; my searches are complicated by the commonality of Johnson and Carlson names and the particular naming patterns in Norway and Sweden. We are Canadian born, as are our parents; most of our grandparents immigrated to Canada via the US.
