Being a child of a southern woman and a northern man, I always knew I would have ancestors who fought on both sides of the Civil War. I became curious if they ever fought in the same battle. This began my journey into climbing my family tree. While I have not discovered my initial goal, I have learned about many fascinating people along the way.
As I continued my journey and now trying to ensure that all are documented correctly, I want to ensure their memorials here are the same way. Finding some that did not have memorials of their own, I have started adding my own.
Right now, every memorial I manage, I am personally related to. However, I now would like to make sure that those buried around where I live are properly memorialized. I am going to start visiting the local cemeteries and adding memorials for those that do not have one. I want to be able to offer the opportunity to connect with relatives for others, as I have been able to do through the generosity of others.
I am not a numbers person and therefore vow to myself, and the community, to not make memorials based on obituaries. I will only be adding memorials for trees I am researching for friends or who have a physical grave at a cemetery I visit in person.
My family lines are Van Hooft/Sweet/Cole/Witter on my northern side and Brumbelow (spelled numerous different ways)/Garmon/Christopher/Oliver on my southern side.

The many spellings I have found for Brumbelows are: Brumbelow, Brumblow, Brumbalow, Brumblough, Brumbulow.
I am sure there are many others I have not discovered yet.
