I moved to Chana, Illinois 25 years ago and was amazed to find that I actually have roots here! Piecing together the family history with stories, photos, and my great grandmother’s scrapbook of obituary clippings (thanks Grandma Maggie Orman Hoopes for this treasure trove of information!). Looking in particular for information on the Ogle County Wilsons, Ormans, Pooles,
Fredericksons, Knodles, Crowells, Hoopes. The first family members to settle in Chana, IL were James M. Wilson and Margaret Downs Wilson (my great great great grandparents) in approximately 1850. I’ve been told that James and Margaret had 13 children... so there are a lot of branches on the family tree to investigate : )
