Retired from Kansas State University in 2019, I spend most of my time helping my kids in our family restaurant (fiVe; A New American Restaurant) in Manhattan, KS and puttering around the "ranchette", wondering how my ancestors ever survived, much less flourished, as they homesteaded in Rawlins County, KS in the late 19th century.
