I was blessed to be old enough to have known many of the elders of Knox County, Antelope County, Boyd County, and part of Holt County here Nebraska by way of my paternal grandparents, J. Henry and Alene (Babcock) Fischer, who made it a point from before I started school, to know who people were, who they were related to, and their life story. For my grandmother, who worked in education and county government, she saw the value of knowing people. For my grandfather, it was a part of Native culture that he grew up in...honoring those who have gone before us by telling their story, long after they have gone. As a result, I enjoy doing the detective work of linking people together from my memories, and making families on Find-A-Grave complete. Thank you to the many contributors who have done all of the hard work...cataloging millions of graves. I appreciate everything you have done, and I am simply here to help ensure that your time and efforts reach their fullest potential of a complete record.

My core families consist of the following last names: Fischer, Babcock, Sonnichsen, and Case. My next tier of relatives include: Heins, Terpstra, Crosley, George, Iauch, Wachter, Scheer, Beckner, and Albin. While it is often joked about by friends and colleagues..."exactly how many cousins DO you have???", in all seriousness, having grown up on the Reservation, I do have countless cousins spanning numerous generations who are fully related to me, cousins of cousins who became "de facto cousins", and many cousins by association...non-relatives who became an integral part of my family for the 140+ years my family has been in the area.

I was honored to have worked in the funeral service industry for a local family consortium of funeral homes for five years, assisting with funeral service arrangements and writing hundreds of personalized obituaries (I prefer to call them Life Stories). Despite having left the firm, I still do occasionally free-lance Life Stories for people in the area. I'm very passionate about telling people's story...most of the time, during their life, people do not receive the fanfare or accolades they deserve. At least in passing, there is an opportunity to share with the world how amazing they were. In addition to working for the local funeral homes in years passed, I spent seven years working for a local family-owned radio station which covered Knox, Holt, Boyd, and Antelope Counties, and due to the family-oriented operation of the programming, I was able to get to know most of the listeners personally.

In no way am I trying to amass memorials; rather, when it is someone I know, and a memorial hasn't been yet created, I do so, that they are not forgotten.
