Bio
I am the fifth child of Sam White and Beulah Darden White of Austin, Texas. They met, married, and started their family in Granger Williamson County, Texas. I am also one of the two remaining children of my parents. My goal along with the help of my sister, Joyce White Sawyer, is to update and document information contained on the Find a Grave website about our grandparents, parents, siblings, in-laws, etc. We plan to update information for all the Memorials I am granted permission to maintain. After that goal is accomplished, I plan to transfer the maintenance to my daughter, son, a niece, or nephew.
Our research began a few years ago with our grandparents on our father's side, Lucinda Wright White and Isaac White. And Estella and Jessie Darden, our grandparents, on our mother's side. As we pursued this effort, we have found information to be limited due to lack of documentation, poor record keeping and for those buried in private cemeteries many records are nonexistent.
Our knowledge of our family's history is limited to members residing or having resided in Texas and the USA. There is no attempt on our part to trace its origin back to Africa; nor, how the family ended up in Texas. Joyce and I were born in Granger, Texas but grew up and attended school in Austin, Texas. Joyce currently lives in Copperas Cove, Texas and I live in Suitland, Maryland.
Clarification of Bertha Mae White's name. Below is a re-write of a handwritten document by Beulah Darden White stating the names and birth dates of her children:
Charles A White born September 26, 1934,
Bertha Mae White born October 7, 1935,
Bettie Mae White born October 7, 1935,
Sam Eddie White born June 4, 1937,
Melvin D. White born June 7, 1939,
Joyce L. White born July 30, 1941,
John W. White born July 27, 1943.
The actual document cannot be inserted into this clarification because of the limited capabilities of Find a Grave writing tools. Most likely the error in recording "Berda for Bertha" occurred in the Williamson County record keeping department.
