My family is from Michigan; my mother's side is from Port Huron and my father's side from Kalamazoo (and Paw Paw to the west.) My mom was almost all Irish and my dad was half Irish and half German. They shared the surname Fitzgerald before they met.

I have enjoyed adding info (including bios) and photos to memorials, and creating memorials to build a family tree. All my ancestors came to America in the great wave of European immigrants during the first half of the 19th century. It is impressive how hard they worked and struggled to overcome challenges to succeed, paving the way for my generation, who really had it pretty easy.

I value knowing and having known immigrants and hearing their stories. I've also liked traveling outside the USA. I feel lucky my second and third great grandparents boarded those ships bound for North America.
