The cemeteries we respectfully trod through to try to do what we can to keep each new addition memorialized, are important to us. Fifty something years of special bonds and memories have been formed for my husband and me in the communities of some of these cemeteries (ESPECIALLY those from Cullman and St. Clair Counties). Many of the photos we post to various memorials will be periodically updated, not just a "one and done" of a stone. By reflecting/memorializing changes to the sight over time, we wish to show honor and respect for that individual, just as the care a family might take in the decorative arrangements they place, shows their connection to his/her loved one. If we post something to a memorial that YOU manage that you'd prefer we not, please email us and we will be happy to remove it. WE KNOW WE WOULD EXPECT THE SAME COURTESY IF IT WERE A MEMORIAL WE MANAGE.

BIO:

Blessed with good Sunday School teachers, public school teachers, as well as our grandparents and many older relatives around us growing up, we believe, helped to build a deep respect for honoring and fondly remembering the past. Now, in our little way, we have such a strong desire to help preserve heritage and make connections with the past before said resources totally disappear!

The desire to research his ancestry became important to my husband while he was still teaching high school, and we have been working on data collection "on and off" now since approximately 2008.

Some of the sur names I am currently researching, as time permits, are:

Paternal side: Cheatham, Gentry, Adair, England, Payne, Miller, Dial, Houston, Flournoy, Gibson, etc, settling anywhere from Colonial Virginia to North and Central AL.

Maternal side: Godwin, Lacks, Chandler, Pope, Drummond, Parker, Lindsey, Myers, Sandlin, Childers, Goolsby, Harding, Rutherford, Warnick, Johnson, Smith, etc.

FOR MY HUSBAND: we are researching: Yates, Pike, Wright, Thompson, Thomason, Karr, Smith, Southern, Page, Callahan, Eades, etc... of St. Clair, Talladega, Calhoun and Cleburne counties/vicinities and others who migrated from places like Virginia, the Carolinas, Kentucky, Tennessee and Georgia to settle in Alabama in the early and mid 1800s.
