My husband and I live in a small dot on the map called Gillingham in Richland County, Southern Wisconsin on the farm where our grandsons are 8th generation Wanless Boys. We have spent many many years listening to the stories of this area. Over the last few years we have hit the age where we spend extra time in History rooms, libraries and cemeteries researching everything we can. We want our grandkids to never forget the history that is in these hills and valleys.

We have started the process of restoring family stones in the Cemetery. It's funny how hard it is to see the green moss removed when it's been there so long. But we know it needs to happen to protect it for future generations.

To go along with that... I am now the Secretary of the Fancy Creek Cemetery Board. I took the position after my mother in law retired after 40 years. So I have in my possession all the cemetery books from the early 1900's when the Association began. I have started the journey of going through all the gravesites and making sure everything is in order. I notice that many of the graves on Find a Grave are lacking information I have. So I realize this is going to be quite an obstacle to conquer but I'm looking forward to it. This winter I would also like to tackle bringing our cemetery into the digital age.

If you have any graves you would be willing to transfer at the Fancy Creek Cemetery or any other surrounding areas it would be an honor to take them over. It would make my job so much easier if I had direct access to them.
