I am originally from Muskegon County, Michigan, USA. I am a retired college professor and I live in Tucson, Arizona, USA. Both of my grandmothers got me started on the family history the summer before my freshman year of high school. I was almost 14 years of age. Tracing the family genealogy has been my passion since 1970. Some of the uncommon surnames I research are von Destinon, Spicklemire, Toothacre, Stoneburner, Rix, Dollarhide, and all their spelling variants.
I love the Find A Grave site not only for the data it provides but also for providing a way that we can recognize and remember our ancestors, veterans, and other heroes. It also is a wonderful research aid and a mechanism for us to identify distant relatives who are pursuing our same interests.
