My research continues in many different directions and I remain thankful for the joy and patience it has given me. The core of my passion and research on Find a Grave and Ancestry is driven by my Mother pictured above. Hard to describe what an amazing woman she is.

Preserving history and the past is an honorable and noble cause. The life of the dead is placed in the memory of the living. Time will not dim the story of their deeds.

For those quick contributors that come and go and submit and disappear, please be thoughtful about the cemetery that you are selecting for your memorial. Too many times memorials are simply being dumped into the wrong cemetery. This practice is unacceptable and the cleanup is very time consuming. The same applies to creating a cemetery for that matter. Leave this process to the contributors that are committed and focused on FAG. If you are not sure where the individual for whose memorial you created is buried, use the edit function to state "unknown". Accurate data entry is vitally important. That goes for myself.

Thanks to all the contributors who are very much involved, committed and compassionate to doing this work. You are to be celebrated and commended. The work you do is most noble and honorable.

Please note that the graves in Germany are not perpetual. After a certain period of repose (20-25 years in Korbach) the graves are being leveled and re-used. There is no toxic embalming being done in Germany, so the coffin and the corpse can decompose naturally. If the family of the deceased decides to purchase another period, the duration can be extended by another 20-25 years. Otherwise, the grave will be leveled and reused, the marker than used as gravel in road construction. War Graves are considered memorials and are kept up by the owner of the cemetery. Those are kept forever. Also, the town or owner of the cemetery might find a grave of historical significance and will protect and keep it indefinitely.
