I'm enjoying my time as a memorial manager and I appreciate those members that have graciously accepted my suggestions. I appreciate those who have spent a lot of time taking photographs and creating memorials even though they may not be related in any way. However, I've noticed there are those who become rather possessive and dictatorial in their roles as managers. There are several things I've learned and would like to couple that with suggestions on how to manage moving forward.

1) please accept linking memorials to those with unknown burials. FaG does and so should you. They may frown on it but there are many famous people memorialized that are unknown burials. We as managers can't make up our own rules or circumvent what's allowed on FaG. It ruins the integrity of the purpose of this website, to memorialize. I've found one manager with over one hundred cats and some dogs on this site! I was under the impression that this site is for humans only but FaG has stated they're here to be memorialized. These are unknown burials so if FaG is ok with them, so should you be, period!

2) attend to suggestions in a timely manner. I've seen many managers manage an astronomical amount of memorials of over 100,000 with some adding from fallen gravers. This tells me these people just want numbers and are trying to control this site and change the rules to their own dictatorial liking. They also take forever to respond or don't respond at all, leaving suggestions to FaG.

3) 99.9% of those that create memorials and make suggestions aren't fraudulent. Don't be so stringent on needing sources. Let's not forget that many of these memorials created are of people that lived and died hundreds of years ago! There simply won't be official records for them. Most cities and towns across the country have no records before 1900, plus you wouldn't believe how many records have been destroyed by fires and flooding. This leaves Bible records and personal knowledge passed down by family only. With many, all you have is a knowledge of their existence from a census or something.

4) this IS a genealogy site too!! I've been told this by historians. When trying to find information on relatives, one of the first things they recommend is the FaG website. This is why it's important to link family members together, even if there is no burial information with some but with their kids there is.

5) Don't get so goofy with pictures you take of memorials wanting permission first or copyrighting your photos. These are just grave markers! I could care less who shares my photos. Did you get permission to photo that intellectual property?

so, having said all this, I am a grateful and proud manager of those whom I'm related too especially. I feel like I'm their caretaker and want to provide the most I can so that whatever information there is, it's passed down through the ages. God's blessings to everyone!
