My ancestors on my father's side are principally from Aspull and Westhoughton and the wider Wigan and Bolton area in Lancashire England, including Highams and Pilkingtons. They mainly worked in the cotton and the coal mining industries. On my mother's side, the family (including Marshalls, Spencers and Yates) also originates from Lancashire, principally North Meols, Churchtown and Southport as well as Rochdale. Many worked in the fishing industry.
