Bio
Retired chemist. I'm fifth / third generation American; my father's paternal great grandfather came from Germany in 1849, possibly as part of the German "48ers" immigration to the US. My mother's maternal grandparents emigrated from Eastern Europe in the 1890's. My paternal 2nd great grandfather settled in western Pennsylvania. My maternal Grandfather came to the US alone from a part of the Russian Empire that is now Poland, and maternal Grandmother came with her parents and siblings from what is now possibly Slovakia or Austria.
Started using Ancestry.com in the 90's, got away from it, then restarted in 2020. I'm hooked on it now; having found previously unknown but interesting, incredible, amazing, and sometimes embarrassing and shameful information about my ancestors.
