I discovered Find A Grave while researching my family history, and as it was a great help to me, I'd love to make sure that this information is available to others as well. I also just want to do my part to preserve the legacy of those who came before.
It always saddens me to see old graves that are neglected or forgotten. Hopefully the hard work of people on this site will preserve the memories of our ancestors for many years, long after their stones are gone. Grave markers will decay regardless, but stories don't have to.
