Bio
I am a passionate WW2 historian in Western Australia and a member of the Broome Historical Society & Museum.
I have been trying to connect with families of the USAAF B24a # 40-2374 to let families know that I have been researching and looking for your relatives lost plane off the coast of Broome on and off for some years . I first became inspired and convicted in my heart to find this aircraft at the 70th anniversary of the air raid on Broome Western Australia when I attended the ceremony.
I have visited families in the USA and obtained research information from the Late Arvon Staats, in the USA whose Uncle Sgt Samuel Foster was also aboard the B24, he was still reaserching to find answers about his lost Uncle...
My friend Jim Miles and I have used a side scan sonar to conduct our search zones off the coast of Broome, and have spent many weeks doing so over the years.
We hope we will find this lost aircraft someday soon.
We have already found a missing WW2 RAAF Beaufighter A19-163 lost off the coast of Broome which we found after 2 year sea search, while researching the loss of the B24.
I was hoping to get in contact and learn more about crew and passengers on the Liberator and their story, also to assist a colleague at in the Broome Museum create a photo memory board of the crew of the B24.
Kind regards
Dion Marinis
