I am a recently retired funeral director. I managed an SCI location in Fresno for 12 Years and worked for SCI for 23 years, mostly in Fresno CA. I came to Fresno from San Jose, where my family had been in the funeral business for 4 generations. My great grandparents established the W.B. Ward Undertaking Co. in 1888 on S Market St. at San Fernando. They eventually moved to N Market @ Devine and were at that location for 70 yrs. My father sold the property in 1979 and joined Bob Accinelli at the Willow Glen Funeral Chapel, which today is an SCI location. Being across the street from the courthouse, the old "parlors" now houses mostly law offices.
