I'm a native to North Alabama, with 9 generations in the northeast part of Alabama and some in northwest Georgia. I've always been intrigued by history and its role in the future. As I've grown older (and hopefully a little wiser), I have come to have a deeper appreciation for the struggles and sacrifices made by prior generations, and how deeply our lives are affected by those who have passed away and are no longer here with us.
While this is our temporary home, I feel it is important to remember those who have gone before, those who served our country, served their community, their church, their friends and neighbors, and their families.
"Please remember me", simple words with profound meaning. I remember growing up and Uncle Walter and Aunt Pearl (not related by earthly family but through Jesus) were kind and loving with all they met. They loved everybody - really they did. And as a young adult to have Alex and Gladys to be a part of my life - they had no children, so all of us were their children. Kind and loving, freely sharing their experiences and their faith. I remember them, and I hope after I am gone that someone else will remember them.
We all leave a mark as we pass through this life.
