Small 4.96-acre cemetery located in Tecumseh, Ontario, between Lesperance Road, Renaud Street, St. Anne Street, and E.C. Row Expressway (County Road 22).

Ste. Anne's Cemetery - Tecumseh

From the mid-1700s a number of French families from Fort Detroit settled along the south shores of Lake St. Clair, among the Ottawa (First Nations). Not until 1857 was work started on a parish of their own to serve the spiritual needs of these people. Land was purchased from the Tremblay family on the south-west corner of Tecumseh Trail and Lesperance Lane. The Roman Catholic church of St. Anne's was established on Jan. 9th, 1859.

The cemetery which was located behind the church on Lesperance Lane was still unblessed ground until 1893, when Bishop O'Conner was invited to person the official blessing on Oct. 15th, 1893.

Burial of parishioners had started in 1861 with the rites for baby Victoire LAUZON on April 15th.

In 1927 a cemetery mausoleum was erected. The cement and marble mausoleum was built by two parishioners early 1927. The calvary scene topping was imported from Montreal. The Mausoleum was blessed on July 24th, 1927.

In 1959, Father Lanoue celebrated the first midnight mass at the cemetery for deceased priests and parishioners of St. Anne's.
