Raised in Crossville, TN first in the area of Thomas Springs (Lawson Town) and then in Vandever between the Fred Tollett Road and Stephens Gap Church. Attended Cumberland County HS until 1993; Tennessee Tech University until 1998; majored in Finance and later pursued an MBA from Auburn graduating in 2012. Commissioned an Army Air Defense Artillery officer May 1998 and served until July 2008. Served at Fort Bliss, Fort Carson (3ACR), South Korea (2ID), Ft. Stewart (3ID), Iraq (3ID) and later the reserves in North Carolina. Lived in High Point, NC; Jamestown, NC, and Rockwell, NC. Remarried 6/1/13 to Alice Spohn Lawson in Salisbury, NC. No children.


Born to Willard V. Lawson, Jr. and Barbara Lawson (from Syracuse, NY (Camillus)). Sisters : Jeanne Marie Lawson, Amy Michelle Lawson Beasley.
