When my mother passed in 2020. I went to visit her last living sibling and got really involved in ancestry.com and as we pieced together the family tree we discovered find a grave. I requested a picture of my grandparents grave in West Virginia and was asked if I would volunteer in my area. I had recently retired and thought what an amazing way to give back. I've been volunteering for FAG for about 5 years and love helping family members locate their loved ones and helping leave a legacy for future generations.
I have since made a two trips to West Virginia to visit the graves of family and have traveled all over the US visiting cemeteries photographing my family markers along with adding photos and memorials for other families.
My passion is fulfilling photo requests for families working on their family tree. It is extremely rewarding but requests should be reserved for family members not other volunteers. I truly wish FAG would not allow volunteers to request photos without providing the grave location.

There are a couple reasons that I will add a second photo to a Memorial

1. My photo has a GPS coordinates attached.
2. There's been an update to the marker, such as an addition of a name or a date.
3. I received a photo request asking for the photo.
4. I believe the photo I took is better than the one that's on the Memorial.
