My 7th grandfather James, was a Cadet (descendant of the younger line) of the ancient and historic Family of the BRISBANE of Bishoptoun (Renfrewshire) and Brisbane (Largs, Ayrshire), Scotland, and heads a cadet branch of that family. James and his family left Scotland about 1737 and settled in Northern Ireland, Thus making my branch cousins to the senior line of our last famous Chief Sir Thomas Mcdougal Brisbane governor of New Southwales and astronomer which himself aknowledge our branch as his kinfolk and had visited my 7th grandfather's daughter Jane Taylor Brisbin while she was sick 1814 during war time on enemy soil. Currently the clan Brisbane needs a male line heir and go through the process and get accepted by lord lyon since Sir Thomas Mcdougal Brisbane governor of new South Wales the last heir as chief died with no one to claim chief of clan Brisbane after him we need any senior or male line descendants of a ancestor that served the clan over 165 years ago. Only descendants of the clan from the mother can claim chief if it's proven there is no senior and male line heirs and are extinct also would have to change their legal last name to the clan name Brisbane. There for..since there is still male line Brisbins out there until one of em claim chief our family clan can not reactivate under the legal law I'm hoping one of us descendants bring our clan out from a 165 year inactive situation.

I'm 6th great nephew of famous naval war hero Commodore Joshua Barney, friend of George Washington, John Paul Jones and Napolean Bonaparte and well acquainted with Benjamin Franklin while in France. According to 1850 newspaper but 5th pa Benjamin Bozely Barney proven by records to be first cousins to Joshua.
