In 2022 or so I took a leap into genealogy for my family. About the same time I was reminded of a tree that was done about 1980 on Mom's side of the family. This has helped confirm and change what I have found in the online trees.

I have learned a fair amount about my family. It seems as more time passes I am learning more than I thought possible. With that said I am learning that I don't know a whole lot about the family.

Through life I've been always on a journey to learn more. This can be applied to genealogy.

I wish I had got involved in genealogy years ago when more of the family was alive still to get first-hand accounts of a lot of things. With that I suggest talking to your family getting pictures labeled who's in the picture where was the picture taken when was the picture taken. Pictures I feel are a window to the past.

Surnames I am interested in include the obvious Siders and Claussen. My father was a Siders and my mom's maiden name was Claussen. Other surnames include Burner, Haynes, McCracken, Peterson, Carroll and Camp. There are others but those are the first to mind.
