South Suburban Genealogical & Historical Society covers 20 townships in south Cook County (Bloom, Bremen, Calumet, Lemont, Orland, Palos, Rich, Thornton, Worth) and east Will County (Crete, Frankfort, Green Garden, Homer, Manhattan, Monee, New Lenox, Peotone, Washington, Will, Wilton), Illinois. Our library is open to the public. We provide research for a fee. We have indexes of transcriptions of many local cemeteries and funeral homes. We also have microfilm of burials at Oak Forest Cemetery (a paupers cemetery used by Cook County for many years; it contains thousands of burials but has no gravestones of any kind). We also cover Chicago's Roseland and Pullman communities, and hold employee records for the Pullman Car Company plant at 111th Street and Cottage Grove in Pullman. More information is at ssghs.org
