I am looking primarily for the 4 families of my grandparents - Krahn, Toews, Brasseur, and Boepple - all with various other spellings.
The Krahn/Toews side were almost all Mennonites that most likely came from Friesland (German/Dutch) and migrated through Prussia to Mennonite colonies in what was then known as South Russia. They all migrated to North Dakota, Montana, Minnesota, and parts of Canada in the late 1800's.
My Brasseur relatives were Roman Catholic and migrated directly to Montreal from northern France in the late 1700's and eventually to the States.
My Boepple relatives were German Lutheran and migrated from the area around Stuttgart to what was then called Bessarabia and also eventually to the U.S. in the late 1800's.
I am interested in contact with any relatives and mutual sharing of information.
Since I happen to live in Central Europe, I have the somewhat unique opportunity to visit some of the original origins/locations directly, which I am looking forward to doing as time and circumstances permit. I speak German and a little Russian, which is also quite helpful in research.
