My parents are Ruth (nee Thomas) and Harvey Barham. They lived many decades in Dallas, Texas where my brother, Harve and I were born. My Dad was in law enforcement for well over 30 years in Dallas. He retired from the Dallas Police Department after 25 years and then worked at the Dallas Sheriff's Department for several more (I forget exactly how many). Later, he worked with my mother in her law office. She had gone back to school when she was in her late 20s, and my Dad encouraged her to continue on and made it possible for her to go to law school. They used to joke that he supported the family for the first 20 years and she would for the next 20. Of course he never quit working because that wasn't in him. He was always doing something. Mom finally retired from working at 80 years old in 2020 which was 20+ years after my dad passed away. She couldn't stop working either it seems but is finally taking it easy and lives with me and my husband outside of Steamboat Springs, CO.
My paternal grandparents are Criss and Ola (nee Holt) Barham of Prescott, Arkansas and are buried in Prescott where my grandfather pastored for many decades. My maternal grandparents are Ira and Viola (nee Smith) Thomas of Curtis, Arkansas and are buried in Arkadelphia. I have many aunts, uncles, and cousins buried in and around southern Arkansas, and so far I am enjoying looking at their entries and adding any needed relatives.
