I have been researching my ancestry since the early 90s. I have found some strong discrepancies about the origin of my great great great great grandfather, William Thomas Bickett, who fought in the 50th regiment of the American Revolutionary war. He is proved, through DNA evidence, to be born from Kilmarnock, Ayrshire, Scotland as opposed to Ireland. As a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, my goal is to resolve this discrepancy in the historical records so accurate information for future generations is ironclad with indisputable truth from fact based evidence. Further, I have visited the St. Charles Boromeo Catholic Cemetery and spoken with the office staff. There is no written evidence of William Thomas' burial there. Numerous genealogy sites refer to this cemetery as his final resting place. But there is no factual information to that regard in the church records. We believe this, but it can't be proved with the current documentation. We can verify his son Nathaniel is buried there. Another discrepancy is false evidence of a Bickett crest. There is no official Bickett crest for anyone who spells there name B I C K E T T. The one Alexander Bickett who achieved this crest did not pass it onto descendants, and it cannot be transferred otherwise. If anyone has information, perhaps a family bible or other documents to facilitate this research, please send me a message!
