I'm a descendant of ancestors from the eastern states, primarily Virginia, Maryland, Tennessee as well as the New England states. My maternal line begins with Middletons of Colonial Virginia and Maryland and includes Jones, Thornton, Clack, Sterling Batte, Stratton. It also includes Chamberlayne from England and Normandy, France.

I'm a retired educator with 45 years of experience in education and an avid genealogist, with more than 30 years of research; originally inspired as a teen by my southern grandmother's stories of her childhood, and information from her sister who was a genealogist author and historian of early Virginia and Maryland.
