I'm just a 14-year-old boy, but preserving the memories of the people I love has become one of the most important things in my life. Creating and managing memorials on Find a Grave means far more to me than simply adding names, dates, or photos to a website. To me, it's about making sure that the people who came before us are never forgotten and that their stories continue to live on long after they are gone.
Family means everything to me. Every memorial I create represents a real person who laughed, struggled, loved, sacrificed, and left behind memories that deserve to be remembered. Some were parents, grandparents, siblings, veterans, friends, or people whose stories may have otherwise faded with time. I believe every life matters, no matter how big or small their story may seem to others.
Losing people I cared deeply about taught me how important memories truly are. Grief changes you, especially at a young age, and one of the ways I cope is by honoring the people I've lost. Writing biographies, uploading photos, connecting family members, and helping preserve their history gives me a sense of purpose. It makes me feel like I'm doing something meaningful for the people who can no longer speak for themselves.
I also know how important these memorials can be for future generations. Someday, children, grandchildren, and relatives may search for their family history and find comfort in knowing where they came from. A photograph, obituary, or short story about someone's life can mean more than words can describe. I want to help keep those connections alive.
This work is deeply personal to me because I genuinely care about people and their stories. I spend time researching, writing, and trying my best to make each memorial respectful and meaningful. I'm still young and learning every day, but I put my heart into this because I believe remembrance matters.
At the end of the day, I don't do this for recognition. I do it because I love my family, I value history, and I never want the people who meant so much to us to simply be forgotten. Their lives mattered, and as long as I'm able to, I'll continue doing my part to help preserve their memory.
