When asked how I got started doing this, I was around 8 years old. My grandma whom I adored loved genealogy and one day asked if I could read yet. This created an opportunity for bonding as she would give me the name and date of someone in the cemetery and send me off to find it. Once I found the headstone, I'd show her and she would get the information while I ran ahead to find the next one for her. Who knew that this would create the love I have today trying to keep cemeteries alive and well and accessible for those who can't get there whether it's distance or health or a combination of both.
