While doing genealogy, I discovered what a good source of information cemeteries can be. Especially when you consider the active movement of people from one country to another. It is not always known where a relative has moved. I am happy when I can help find lost relatives with my work.

I have mainly focused on the Hietaniemi cemetery. I have become familiar with the different areas of the cemetery, and I go to take pictures of the tombstones. My photos are taken by me. They are not allowed to be copied. The official cemetery database is hautahaku.fi, where can you find official information about the buried and their up-to-date grave location.

Sukututkimusta tehdessäni huomasin, kuinka hyvä tiedonlähde hautausmaat voivat olla. Varsinkin kun ottaa huomioon ihmisten aktiivisen liikkumisen maasta toiseen. Ei aina tiedetä, minne sukulainen on muuttanut. Olen iloinen, kun voin työlläni auttaa löytämään kadonneita sukulaisia.

Olen keskittynyt pääasiassa Hietaniemen hautausmaahan. Olen tutustunut hautausmaan eri alueisiin ja käyn kuvaamassa hautakiviä. Kuvani ovat itse ottamiani. Niitä ei saa kopioida.
