Visiting cemeteries is a wonderful way to learn the local history. When I was a teenager, I used to get up early on the weekend and ride my bike out to the country. I'd stop to rest at a cemetery, not knowing that I probably had relatives there. As a mother, I researched family history to help my daughter with her grade school homework. I started volunteering for Find A Grave after my mother passed away. I didn't know this website could link families together. Since I like history, photography, genealogy and the outdoors, this is a good way to make use of my time.
