I focus on African American genealogy research in Louisiana, especially families connected to Lafourche Parish and St. Charles Parish, including communities such as Luling, Paradis, Des Allemands, Boutte, Gheens and Mathews.

I am seeking any information related to these families and communities, including cemeteries, burial grounds, church records, funeral programs, obituaries, photographs, unidentified or forgotten cemetery locations, or any historical information connected to these communities. Even small details, old family stories, or name variations can be extremely helpful. I would greatly appreciate it. Key families of interest are Allen, Anderson, Bailey, Banks, Blackman, Burks, Bonnett, Brown, Coleman, Collins, Diggs, Dorsey, Douglas, Dukes, Friloux, Gary, Green, Gross, Harris, Hill/Hills, Honor, Howard, Ingram/Engham, Johnson, Kellup, Kelso, Labranche/Labranch, Lee, Manuel, Mayho, McCoy, Mott, Paceley, Petenant, Revader, Robinson/Roberts, Sandolph, Scott, Simmons, Sumler/Summers, Toliver, Triche, Turner, Vidal, White, and Williams. Descendants and relatives connected to these families are especially invited to reach out.

Photographs of relatives are extremely valuable for preserving family history. Photos of family members born in the late 1800s and early 1900s are especially important, as they help preserve the memory and legacy of earlier generations. For memorials that I own or have taken management of, I'll usually add the person's obituary and identify their parents. I list the father's full name and surname, along with the mother's maiden name (the surname she had before marriage). Sometimes I'm unable to identify the parents. In those cases, I'll say the son/daughter of an unknown father with the surname (father's surname, if applicable) and an unknown mother.
