GPSing grave markers….Is what I originally set out to do, but that turned into uploading photos, putting up memorials, fulfilling photo requests, etc.
FIND A GRAVE HAS A POLICY AGAINST COPYRIGHTED OBITUARIES………
I DONT like to copy and magically paste obituaries that someone else worked so hard to type up, just saying. Come up with your own special wording and or story, from your heart. I personally can come up with a short story from the death certificate alone :)

Love the old black and white photos people add to their loved ones memorial page.
My favorite marker, is the bird bath. If your not sure what type of marker to get, just take a walk thru some of the cemeteries to find out which plaques seem to hold up over time.
A few markers don't have the full year dates on them. Just the last 2 numbers of the year, for example, 25…. what 1925? 2025?
I am NOT here to get numbers, I could care less about that. I just want to get markers GPSed, photographed &/ or get that memorial up, so when your family/ friends/ genealogists are looking for your marker, thru the internet, or on foot, it's a lot easier to find.
It's a great feeling to be able to help fulfill photo requests. I'm always curious how it helped someone in their search.
It's a lot easier to photograph memorials when it's cloudy.
When the seasons change, so do the shadows on the markers when your trying to take a good picture. So, if the picture looks cockied, it's bc I'm trying to keep my shadow out of it, also, I can't help it if the vase/ flowers creates shadows on the names/ dates, bc a lot of markers seem to be in the east west position vs north south. I don't like to mess with the flowers either, last time I did, a wasp was attached to my finger, so…nope.
Every marker I take a picture of gets a quick dusting & few grass strays removed. Most markers need that edging tool taken to it.
If an existing photo for the memorial is not clear/ readable / whatever, I will retake it for clarity reasons, after all, I'm standing right there in front of it.
Some of you need to back to photography school and learn how to take better photos of these markers. I mean you can't even bend over and move the freaking blade of grass out the way.
I personally will not put up memorials less than 3 months old, let alone 3 seconds old. I'm not that desperate for numbers.
Something I find puzzling, is when people put those solar sticks around their loved ones marker. Why? The cemetery is closed after dark and you can't get in there.
Some of these trinkets people leave on their loved ones markers is getting way outta hand. To the point it blocks the name and dates.
When I'm out there GPSing markers or getting photos or getting the memorials up in the heat, the cold, the wind, the rain, fighting mosquitoes, gnats and getting stung by red ants….who cares what my user name is, I'm getting the job done!!!.
