My parents and grandparents all hail from Chicago, where 3/4 of my great-grandparents immigrated to around the late 1800s to early 1900s, but the last 1/4 of my great-grands have deep roots that go all the way back to the colonial origins of this country.
I've mainly been focused on genetic genealogy since 2020, solving all of my DNA matches and discovering my tree is full of interesting and (in)famous people. You can find me as "sharerliners" on both Ancestry and FamilySearch, as well as on GEDmatch (kit: QF5200188).
Direct familial surnames include:
* Hoppe (Hoppie), Kitzelman, Wincklemann, Wörm, Ruth, Kowitz, Jeschke, Wohlert, and Rieck (Reich) — German lines, who came from West Prussia in what is now Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and modern day Poland.
* McHugh, McGough (McGoff), Brennan, Kenney, Larkin, Deacy (Deasy), Doherty, Cranston, Long, and McNulty — Irish lines, who came from the counties of Mayo and Roscommon.
* Larsen, Johansen, Gundersen, Olsen, Torgersen, Hansen, and Pedersen — Norwegian lines with patronymic names, who came from the counties of Vestfold, Akershus, and Buskerud.
* Loveless, Wright, Madison, Preston, Bell, Beall, Knapp, Wolf, Woodsum, Bryant, Tomlin, Russell, Campbell, Lewis, Brewer, White, Wheat, and Taylor — Colonial American family lines that go back to the Mayflower Pilgrims of Plymouth and early Jamestown settlers, who were mainly English and Ulster Scots, along with a few French Huguenots and Dutch New Amsterdam settlers.
