Fate is not a matter of chance. It is a matter of choice.
I was born and grew up in Poland during the Cold War. From stories told by my paternal grandparents, I now know that our family lived in Zbaraż Tarnopol for generations. I have always been interested in our family history and felt it was my mission to find out more about my ancestors. For several years now, I have been working on the family tree of my family, Wojcieszczuk and Didek, who left their homeland in the chaos of World War I and World War II and long before that and emigrated to Canada and the USA. Family is like a tree. The branches may grow in different directions, but the roots hold everything together. Of course, I am also interested in history and so I sometimes visit the places where it was written, from Verdun and the Somme to the beaches of Normandy and the Ardennes, and pay my respects to the fallen by remembering them and their sacrifice. As a child, I visited Auschwitz Birkenau, not knowing that there were Jewish ancestors in my family. My goal is also to never forget them and to find traces of my maternal great-great-great-grandmother, Etka Rotsztejn Kielman, and the survivors of her family. Genealogy research and learning from it became my greatest passion, as did my love of technology, motorcycles and trucks. Perception, reaction and concentration.
